On Tuesday April 15th, Chef Alan Awana from Washington Place was able to return to the Kohala Intergenerational Center. Chef Awana was able to begin his first in a series of culinary presentations in which the culinary students were able to participate in the creation of their first two dishes.
In this first class, the students were able to create a salad dish and an appetizer. The salad dish featured thinly cut grilled breast of muscovy on a bed of mixed spring greens topped with a warm l'orange dressing, and the appetizer dish was a simple pork stuffed aburage with a shoyu ginger glaze garnished with green onions and red peppers.
It was a great afternoon of fun and food with fun being the main goal of the session. We would like to thank the students in the culinary program at KIC for allowing Chef Awana to share his mana'o with all in attendance. Special mahalo to Billy Brown, Uncle David Fuertes and PIDF for making this happen for the students of Kohala.
